Suffern Little League Baseball
I've been a volunteer with Suffern Little League for the past 3 years in a coaching capacity for my son's T-Ball and T-Shirt teams. This year I have taken on the role of managing his Rookie team. I never realized what goes on behind the scenes until I became a manager and began attending all the meetings. I now see all the time and dedication that is needed to pull together such an awesome task as running a little league baseball progam. It includes the draft, the uniforms, field preparation, equipment distribution, umpire scheduling and setting up the clubhouse and snack stand and the list goes on.
My middle son, John plays in the Rockland County Challenger League in which we travel throughout Rockland County where towns donate their fields so these children have a place to play every week and be part of a team. Yesterday was our first experience playing on the Suffern little league field with the Challenger League. I can't begin to tell you how impressed my family and I were. The welcoming atmosphere created by Suffern LIttle League was first class. The fire truck with its ladder extended flying the flag high above the field and then pumping water into the sky during the National Anthem was awesome. What really impressed me was the number of board members and players volunteering their time on a Sunday afternoon whether it was flipping hot dogs, manning the 3 fields, being a buddy for the kids or running the snack bar. Food and drink was generously offered to all in attendance. Then to top it off the kids walked away with a beautiful medal. The smiles on everyone's faces were proof to a job well done by Suffern Little League. I am proud to be part of Suffern Little League Baseball. Joe Rorro
